III.              OUTREACH INITIATIVES

The following outreach initiatives were completed by the SEU during the reporting period:

 

A.              Job Banks and Internet Programs:

 

The employment unit participated in job banks and internet programs designed to provide general information about opportunities in broadcasting and to encourage women and minorities to consider future employment in broadcasting. In addition, all job openings have been posted on web sites to ensure broad internet recruitment. In the reporting period, the following web sites have been used:

B.              Job Fairs: 

 

The employment unit was represented at the following job fairs during the reporting period. The employment unit provided handouts, job postings and employment applications. The employment unit provided information where possible candidates could access company web-sites and where to send their resume and/or application.

     

1.     On March 12, 2012, the SEU’s General Sales Manager participated in the National Career Fair in Bellevue, WA.

 

2.     On March 29, 2012, the SEU’s General Sales Manager participated in the WorkSource Career Fair, in Seattle, WA.

 

3.     On June 19, 2012, the SEU’s Business Manager participated in the National Career Fair in Bellevue, WA.

 

4.     On August 22, 2012, the SEU’s General Manager and General Sales Manager participated in the HireLive Hiring Event in Bellevue, WA.

 

           C.         Co-Sponsored Job Fairs :

           

On January 25, 2012, the SEU’s General Manager was a co-sponsor and participant in the 12th Annual Diversity Employment Day Career Fair in Seattle, WA. This event brings together the King County and Washington State’s major employers with thousands of qualified diversity professionals with the aim to recruit, promote and reaffirm their commitment to diversity in the workplace. All represented at this event were professional organizations comprised of diverse and multi-ethnic King County and Washington State residents. The employment unit provided handouts, job postings and employment applications. The employment unit provided information where possible candidates could access company web-sites and where to send their resume and/or application.

 

On July 11, 2012, the SEU’s Business Manager was a co-sponsor and participant in the 12th Annual Diversity Employment Day Career Fair in Seattle, WA. This event brings together the King County and Washington State’s major employers with thousands of qualified diversity professionals with the aim to recruit, promote and reaffirm their commitment to diversity in the workplace. All represented at this event were professional organizations comprised of diverse and multi-ethnic King County and Washington State residents. The employment unit provided handouts, job postings and employment applications. The employment unit provided information where possible candidates could access company web-sites and where to send their resume and/or application.

 

           D.         Sponsored Events:

           

On October 2, 2011, the SEU’s Director of Hispanic Local Ministry and Promotion’s Director, co-sponsored the Latino Business & Consumer EXPO in Bellevue, WA. This event is one of the largest events that bring together national, regional and local companies plus non-profit, cultural and faith-based organizations while interacting with the fastest growing Latino market. This event is designed to showcase the importance of the Latino/Hispanic community and how it is a viral part of our economic buying power and our willingness to open doors and create opportunities for everyone in he community. The employment unit presented a booth with Inspiration Media staff present, educating job seekers about the company by providing handouts, job postings and overviews, employment applications as well as company information.

 

           E.          Management  EEO Training:

           

1.   The Salem Director of Human Resources conducts monthly HR Network Training Sessions via teleconference and Powerpoint presentations, which includes review of EEO policies and compliance. the SEU’s Business Manager participates in these training sessions each month and then routinely communicates with the SEU’s General Manager and other management team members to keep all employees apprised of the company and SEU’s policy on equal employment.

 

2.   The SEU participates in an on-line program entitled “Employment Law Training” (E.L.T.), which is an ongoing program for all entry level managers and above to train them in methods of ensuring equal opportunity and preventing discrimination.  Training modules include two (2) hours of “Preventing Workplace Harassment” and a module covering all forms of anti-discrimination.  During this reporting period, three SEU employees participated in the ELT program.
